Amalia Merino is a PhD candidate in Spanish Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin. Originally from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, she dedicates her research to further understand how Spanish in the U.S. is acquired and maintained. In addition to her working occasionally as an interpreter and translator, she also teaches Spanish at UT and mentors undergraduate McNair scholars at St. Edward’s University.
